Here’s a Crazy Daisy short bit–
In the fall of 1897, Willy Low was off shooting without his wife, Juliette “Daisy” Low. In a letter to her Aunt Eliza Stiles, Daisy explained how she and her friend, Jessie (who was perhaps her sister-in-law, Jessie Low Graham), were together at the home of the Clan McIntosh, possibly Moy Castle but probably Meallmore, the hunting lodge she and Willy rented:
“The McIntosh (our landlord) is charming and his wife is very like me. Last week I was asked there, because Willy and Mr. Jimmy Guthrie have gone…shooting, and I would have been alone here. Jessie and Hyde were there and Jess and I retired at intervals to my room, where I stood on my head and Jessie screamed aloud, to let off steam. The whole atmosphere of the house was frigid….
“I asked the McIntosh to bring some of his party here to lunch last Thursday and they were like children out of school! The MacIntosh himself danced a sword dance, in front of the house, after lunch, across two fishing rods, and afterwards went in my canoe….”

I finished reading your book last night. An utterly amazing ride… I noticed on the copyright page that many of the foreign Penguin Group publishing houses are listed. Does that mean simultaneous publishing in those countries? I always enjoy seeing all of the foreign covers when authors share them. Thanks again for such a wonderful story for the 100th Anniversary!
Hi, Gayle–I’m so glad you enjoyed the book! Thanks for writing to tell me! I do not think that my biography of Juliette Gordon Low has been published simultaneously in all of those countries. If I ever see a foreign cover, though, I promise to post it! Meanwhile, I am 99& certain that a large-print edition will be issued soon.
Dear Stacy, I am the one you met in Barrington, Ill. I am the person who has spent 30 years of my life being Juliette Low. Also we met at the Convention. Just a few days ago, I recieved one of your books from a friend of mine who lives in Canton, Ohio. You signed it to me for her when you were in Canton. Now I have three copies. I am reading your book and I love it. The personal stories you have in your blog give me goose bumps. Sometimes I feel like I am really her. Which makes my programs more realistic. I have done some traveling with my life-sized sculpture of “Juliette”, after the 2 yrs ‘she’ spent at FHQ.
Stacy, all the wonderful new info you have contributed to those of us who try and keep Juliette a presence to young Girl Scouts through media other than print is a priceless asset.
